High Power Laser Therapy

What is laser therapy?

Laser therapy is a procedure that uses focused light to stimulate a process called photobiomodulation, or PBM. During PBM, photons enter the tissue and trigger a biological cascade of events that leads to:

  • increased tissue healing
  • decrease in pain
  • reduction in muscle spasm
  • improved microcirculation to injured tissue.
  • reduced recovery time

This treatment is FDA-cleared and provides patients a non-invasive, non-pharmacological alternative for pain relief.

Portable therapy brought to you

One of the unique aspects of high power laser therapy is that despite being a cutting edge technology, the unit is portable.

This allows Dr. DeFries to treat patients at various locations:

  • Homes
  • Businesses
  • Events
  • Job sites
  • Gyms
  • Resident facilities

All that is needed is a private area and an electrical outlet.  Most procedures can be completed using a portable chiropractic table or a chair.

The Treatment

Treatment frequency and time depend on the condition

  • Most laser therapy plans of care will involve 5-12 treatments, with more treatment needed for chronic conditions. and fewer for acute complaints.
  • Laser therapy is cumulative as each visit builds upon the last. Patients typically report significant improvement after just two weeks.
  • Laser therapy can be a stand-alone therapy or part of a treatment plan utilizing chiropractic manipulation, soft tissue mobilization and stretching and exercise therapy.
  • Patient can continue to see other providers or therapist while being treated with laser therapy.
  • Initially moderate to severe or chronic conditions call for laser therapy to be performed for three days in a row and then every other day. Acute or mild complaints may only require one to three treatments.
  • The fees for laser therapy range from $80 to $100 per treatment depending on the units required ( most conditions respond to one unit) and allowances are made for multi-visit packages.
  • Payment options are available to assure care can be given properly without causing an economic burden.
